Hello and thanks for checking out JP Fitness!

I appreciate you stopping by and look forward to helping you achieve your current and future goals! Let me start by introducing myself, I am owner and founder, JP! I was born and raised in Tyler, TX by my grandparents and father. I grew up in a loving Christian home and was always taught hard work and dedication are the key components to achieving great success.

John Perry, owner JP Fitness

My fitness ventures started back when I was eager to play football in high school but was unfortunately not taken seriously because of my size. I worked hard and dedicated all my efforts to lifting weights and running vigorous drills. I made great progress in such a little amount of time, gaining twenty pounds rapidly.

I continued to pursue my goal and dedicate more time than others in the gym which caused me to gain notice of the powerlifting coach. My love for weightlifting grew and by the end of the season I was competing with the powerlifting team as a close runner-up finish for my weight class. I continued to excel on the powerlifting team, winning many top prizes in team and individual events. Through my hard work and dedication I had lettered my freshman year in powerlifting, qualified as runner-up to state my junior year, and made a great run as a potential state champ my senior year.

I continued my passion for weightlifting after high school, and began studying the different methods and techniques of muscle hypertrophy of different types of athletes. With these new techniques, I began writing new workout programs and further evolving my gains and setting goals even quicker. I even started helping local student athletes achieve quick results through my new found talent of personal training.

A few years later I began my first gym job at a local gym as a smoothie guy. After being persuaded by the gym owner to look into a NASM personal trainer certification, I got certified. In just a few short months I worked up the ranks and got a job as a personal trainer.

Since then I have continued to dedicate my efforts to being the best at what I do. I hold a national record on bench press for NASA sports, have made an impression on the POWER TEAM and been asked to join an out-of-state branch, was the “Muscle-Man” spokesman for kids drug-free week for back-to-back years, have been the head platform judge for high school powerlifting meets, have trained high school and college athletes for all sports, and have trained tri-athletes and marathon runners, as well as bodybuilders, powerlifters, and CrossFit athletes. I have enjoyed being a personal trainer for nine and a half years and counting.
